I was working on a book about spiritual development, looking for ways to be more proactive in diagnosing where I need the most improvement. And I noticed something in the Lord’s Prayer.
If I break that prayer into phrases, each one points me to an important question to ask myself. Over the past few weeks, I’ve built these questions into a sermon series, two questions per week (though not in order because, me).
Anyway, I thought it might be worthwhile to publish the whole list, so here it is.
Our Father in heaven,
Am I maintaining a God-framed perspective?
hallowed be your name.
How am I doing in my worship?
10 your kingdom come,
How am I doing in my character?
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
How am I doing in my service?
11 Give us today our daily bread.
How am I doing in my trust?
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
How am I doing in my relationships?
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’*
How am I handling temptation?
for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
How am I doing in my submission?
The sermon series is available on our church YouTube Channel from September 8 to 29, 2019 if you’d like a more information on individual questions.
